FINAL PROJECT

mockup:

I tried to make the final outcome as similar as my prototype therefore I learned how to import fonts, as well as make rounded corner from tutorials

For the pronunciation sounds, I also followed a tutorial:

REFLECTION

Working on this AR app in Unity was both an exciting and challenging experience for me. It gave me the chance to bring my ideas to life, and seeing the concepts I envisioned actually working in AR felt incredibly rewarding. However, this project also came with its share of struggles and lessons, and I want to reflect on both the successes and areas where I fell short.

When I first started, I was really enthusiastic about creating something immersive and interactive, and I focused a lot on the visuals and core features. For example, implementing the scanning functionality and seeing how the AR elements responded to user interactions was a major highlight for me. It was amazing to see objects come to life in 3D and have them connected to real-world items in such an engaging way.

That said, time was a constant challenge. I had so many ideas for this app, but there just wasn’t enough time to execute everything the way I had hoped. One feature I was particularly excited about—scavenger hunt mode—had to take a back seat. I had planned to create a fun and engaging activity where users could search for and scan real-world objects as part of their learning journey. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to give this mode the attention it deserved. I included a basic structure for it, but I know it could have been so much more polished and exciting if I had more time.

Initially, I also planned to include a virtual companion, but again due to not having enough time, I didn't manage to do so. So I tried my best to add at least one 3D item that is fun, therefore after many attempts with the confetti, I finally managed to do it.

Despite this, I feel proud of what I was able to achieve. I learned so much about Unity, AR implementation, and the process of creating an interactive app from scratch. It also taught me the importance of prioritizing features and focusing on quality over quantity. While I wish I had managed my time better to incorporate everything I envisioned, this experience showed me how to adapt and make the most of the time I had.

Looking back, this project pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me develop practical skills I’ll carry forward into future projects. If I had more time, I would have loved to refine the scavenger hunt mode and make the app even more interactive, but I’m glad I was able to deliver something functional and creative in the end. It’s a reminder that every project is a learning process, and sometimes, it’s okay to leave room for improvement.
